Dr. Darrin Peppard is a leadership coach, consultant, and speaker focused on organizational culture and climate, and coaching emerging leaders. Darrin is the best-selling author of the book Road to Awesome, and is the host of the Leaning into Leadership podcast. As a ‘recovering high school principal’, Darrin shares strategies and lessons learned from 26 years in public education to help leaders gain clarity, find joy in their work, and walk in their purpose.

 

What is the most challenging mental health issue in schools right now?: What I am seeing in schools right now is the overwhelm from adults. They are not in the best place, sometimes, with their own mental health and, thus, cannot help students.

How are you seeing mental health being addressed in school(s) + districts and what are the limitations?: not in a school anymore but happy to talk about some of the things I've done and what I've seen being done

What are a few points you'd like to cover relating to school mental health improvement?  The vast shortage of qualified professionals available to assist adults and students in schools is a huge challenge.

What does the future of education need to look like so more people feel energized and engaged in the profession?

What does it need to look like for kids that’s vastly different than now?
