That we are just now touching the surface of what covid has done to our students as well as to teachers and staff.
How is mental health currently addressed in your school(s), and what are the limitations?:
Honestly we do our best but not well enough we do everything we can for the students but not enough mental health for teachers. This year we have been working to change that.
What are a few points you'd like to cover relating to school mental health improvement?
Kids are overly sensitive now and its not them battling peer pressure but pressure they have put on themselves.

What is the most challenging mental health issue in your school or district right now?: Anxiety and stress among teachers and students
How is mental health currently addressed in your school(s), and what are the limitations?: We have an SEL curriculum that is implemented K-5 as well as an emphasis on SEL in secondary through their advisory time. Currently our SEL Coordinator is working on PD for administrators to embed the 3 signature practices from CASEL (welcoming activity, engaging practices, and optimistic closure) into everyday practice. The limitations are the integrity in which the program is implemented--some teachers use it every day, some sparingly, and some not at all.
What are a few points you'd like to cover relating to school mental health improvement? (This serves as a helpful reminder when it's time for you to interview).:
-Leveraging relationships to support social-emotional well-being and mental health
-Cultivating a safe learning environment
-Continuing this work throughout the year, not just at the beginning

Stress, high expectations, and comparisons to other people.
What are the barriers to overcoming that issue, and what do you believe is the best approach?
Barriers include high expectations from educators, coaches, and parents; time; comparisons on social media; short attention spans seeking immediate gratification and comparisons.
Approaches: explicit teaching about growth mindset, mindfulness, individual and tram progress, being teachable, and embracing and learning from mistakes, challenges, and ambiguity.
